DSP: How long have you been scrapping?
MEMBER: When we retired, sold the house and moved into a motorhome it was clear we wouldn't have room for my quilt studio (ya' think?) so I was desperate for a hobby that had some of those visual arts characteristics. In August 2006 I discovered DSP and was thrilled to have a hobby that was visual AND that was a great way to document our retirement travels. The dh was thrilled at how little storage digital scrapping required.
DSP: What do you like best about digital scrapbooking?
MEMBER: I love that I can create tributes to and memory pages of the people, places and things I love and have so many ways to share them with family and friends.
DSP: What drew you to this site?
MEMBER: As a fulltime RVer I rely on the internet for nearly all of my research so when I first viewed DSP's professionally designed pages and the roster of designers I knew this was a place I could be happy and find everything I needed.
DSP: Do you have a favorite challenge here at DSP?
MEMBER: It's impossible to narrow myself to one challenge as a favorite. Every challenge has it's special appeal but since you did ask me to name one I'll go with Freestyle Fandango because "freestyle" is an area that challenges me!
DSP: What is your most off the wall layout?
MEMBER: If off the wall = weird, lolol, I have quite a few. Maybe it's this one that turned out so differently than what I had in mind when I started. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=187593&ppuser=65951
DSP: Do you ever experience scrappers block and if so how do you overcome it?
MEMBER: Oh yes, I often come up blank when starting a layout. I have found the best way for me to get my creative juices flowing is to hurry right over to the DSP forums and galleries where I know I'll get dozens of ideas. Sometimes I get so many ideas from the DET and the members that I end up creating more than one page.
DSP: What is your favorite thing to scrap about?
MEMBER: Ummmm, NOT myself, lol.....I know I need to work on that so it doesn't look like my dh is a single retired guy. Seriously though, I started scrapping to document our RV travels throughout North America and even though we are temporarily limited with a family caregiver situation I can still scrap our two early years of travel.
DSP: If you were a scrapbook element, what would you be?
MEMBER: I think it would be fun to be a doodle element because of the many ways they can be used. I love to use doodles as stamps/brushes and as stickers. Doodles lend themselves to being filled with glitter, or altered with a blending mode. Doodles add emotion to a layout.
DSP: What part of the site do you spend the most time in, other than your gallery?
MEMBER: I spend hours in the forums checking out the member submissions for the designer challenges and to see what's new. I love to study what members are posting for the challenges because DSP has the most talented folks.
DSP: What other hobbies or activities do you enjoy other than scrapping?
MEMBER: I guess I'm pretty single minded in that most of my interests revolve around scrapping these days. I love photography and creating mini albums and cards for friends and family. Oh yeah, I love traveling throughout North America seeing all the wonderful places and people of this great country and beyond.
DSP: Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
MEMBER: Discovering digital scrapbooking and the DSP community has made a huge difference in my day to day life in retirement. Through DSP I have met dear friends and gained access to the best designer products and knowledge base for improving my skills. I want to send out my sincerest thanks to everyone here at DSP for making this a great place to hang out.
