A Letter from Team Digital

What is it about the fall season that grabs a hold of me, shoves a glue stick in my hand, and forces me to get crafty?!  "I'm a digital scrapper!" I shout vainly as I find myself wandering the aisles of my local scrapbook supply store.  I find myself in the checkout line with a bewildering variety of items that are oh-so-cute, but oh so....so....real!  Maybe it's the weather, maybe the holidays, maybe it's all those fun art projects that my kids are bringing home from school, who knows, but I have a strange need to figure out what to do with all this stuff I've purchased.  The problem?  I'm a digital scrapper.  When I use glue, it winds up on my favorite jeans.  Adorable little beads scatter across the floor, providing endless fun for the kids and pets.  And don't get me started on paper trimmer mishaps!

So what's a girl to do? I turn to my home at DSP to look for inspiration, and pretty soon, I find myself shopping for card templates, and word art, and oh-just-look-at-all-the cute holiday kits!! I can do this! Designing cards (and layouts) on my trusty computer (that never musses my jeans or rolls across the floor), I'm able to create so many beautiful gifts for my family and friends. And I can print them! And I can add all those cute embellishments to them! Whew!

I successfully combined my favorite art medium, website, and those pesky crafty urges....and the results are awesome! I have cards for every holiday and season, and a tad more experience with a paper trimmer. (I got so crazy at one point that I went completely hybrid and made a board book! Check out all the Beyond the Layout products in the DSP store, you'll glue yourself silly!) I'm loving hybrid, so totally unique and fun, and perfect for keeping kids busy on a rainy day.

Featured Designer: Linda Rechtin

Autumn is such a wonderful time of year. Maybe that’s because of all the delicious fragrance in the air, the gorgeous colors in the leaves of the trees and the excitement of a holiday season fast approaching. For me, it’s a time full of sentiments, especially now, with watching my little toddler each day as she discovers and experiences so many new things.

How happy I am that I can capture so many of those moments in time, not only with my camera but with scrapbooking. As I look in the DSP Galleries every day, I see how so many others are recording their memories and I sometimes stop and think to myself – wow – what did we all do before we had scrapbooking? I just cannot imagine my life without it and would just like to say that I am ever so thankful for this hobby.

You know, there’s something else that has crossed my mind these days. While I am saving these memories for my daughter, family and future generations – there aren’t really that many photos or scrapbook pages of me. Why? Well, because I am the one behind the camera of course. So – this holiday season I plan to pass that camera every so often to my husband, my sister, whoever is nearby so that years from now my little girl will be able to look back on her mommy and daddy both spending the holiday season with her. If you aren’t already doing the same, try and remember to give it a try. I’m sure you will be glad you did.

Here’s to the happiest November yet to all of you, weather it is Autumn or Spring, wherever you may live!
