The Digital
Scrapbook Company
Karen Johnson, Moderator
Karen Johnson is 44 and lives in a small coastal town
at the bottom of the South Island of New Zealand. Married to Colin for
24 years, they have 2 children: Brad (aged 23) and Kylie (18). Brad is
married and has a son, Dylan (aged 3) who is the light of Karens life.
Karen, a photographer, initially started paper scrapping as a way of presenting
her wedding portfolio to prospective clients. She soon grew tired of the
mess and packing and unpacking the masses of gear she couldn't resist
buying everytime she went near a scrapbooking shop. Discovering digital
scrapbooking near the end of 2003, she was hooked when she realized there
was no cleaning up to do!
She loves the montage style of scrapping and learns more and more every
day. Karen works in Photoshop 7, hoping to one day produce elements worthy
of being shared.
Other time fillers include reading and, of course, taking photos (Karen
has a special love of floral photography). She also enjoys watching all
types of crime drama shows including CSI, Law and Order and Special Victims
Unit, but her favourites are Cold Case and Without A Trace.
Her favourite holiday place is at a home they have just built a home (completed
Easter 2004) on Stewart Island, a 1 hour ferry ride across the 20 miles
of Foveaux Strait, which divides the South Island from Stewart Island.
The house is on the beach and has native bush behind it, a beautiful and
peaceful place to relax and unwind. The only downside to this wonderful
spot is, while there, Karen's laptop is on dial-up and it is soooo slow!
